4th Grade Invention Convention
You are cordially invited to the annual 4th Grade Invention Convention to be held on Thursday, June 20,2013 at the West Street School gym. It is from 1:00-2:30 p.m. Please do not forget to sign in at the office when you get to the building. If you decide to dismiss your child, please do not forget to sign him/her out from the office and to let me know also. I hope to see you on Thursday.
End of the year projects
We are doing several projects for the end of the school year. In ELA, we are creating a timeline on U.S. immigration. In math, we are doing the Math Day projects where the students have to create a story using math topics that they've learned throughout the year. Finally, in science, we are starting to think of inventions to showcase during the Invention Convention in June 20th. It's going to be a busy last month!
Please keep in mind that the Math MCAS is next Tuesday and Thursday. Remember to have your child sleep early the night before the test and eat a healthy breakfast the day of the test so that he/she is prepared . Thank you!

Multiplication Masters Challenge!!!!!
We are starting our multiplication masters challenge this week. Please make sure that you study your 0-12x facts. Whoever can "master" them gets an invite to my exclusive Multiplication Masters Party. Study hard, boys and girls!!!
We are starting a new unit in Social Studies. We are going to be learning about the world continents, oceans, and some U.S. regions. We will be looking at maps and making globes. It's going to be fun!

End of the year activities
Wow! Time is sure flying. We're almost at the end of the school year. In math, we're finishing our Math Day projects. They're looking great! Keep up the good work, boys and girls. I hope to have one more project before June 23rd: a geometry picture project.
In science, we just finished our plant life cycle activity; we are going to be moving towards earth science. Rocks and minerals, here we come!
Important reminder: the 4th grade math MCAS are on Tuesday, May 11 and on Thursday, May 13.
Have a fabulous spring break, boys and girls! I'll see you back on Monday, April 26. Remember that the math Galileo has been moved to Tuesday(4/27) for Gentile group and Wednesday(4/28) for Medina group. Have fun in the sun and come back prepared and refreshed.
Heads up, boys and girls! It's Galileo time again. The reading test will be this Wednesday and its math counterpart will be on Friday. You need to remember three things when tackling these assessments: read and follow the directions, understand the question that's being asked, and check you work. Good luck!

Back to Business
Whew! The fourth grade ELA MCAS was finished today. The math one won't be until May. Stay tuned for the definite dates.
In math, we will resume our study of perimeter and area. The test is tentatively set for next Friday, April 9. As for science, most of the students are finished with their project rough drafts. Several are putting the finishing touches in their final copy. The projects are looking great. Keep up the good work, boys and girls! I'm proud of you.
Just a reminder for parents and students: This week and next week is the 4th grade ELA MCAS. A good night sleep and a healthy breakfast are key ingredients in doing well on this test.
